Monday morning you slog into your internship and are met by your boss who has a new assignment for you and your fellow interns. The organization you're interning for wants to have a greater presence in the mobile space and wants to integrate mobile into the existing more traditional marketing mix.

Your boss knows the mobile landscape is a complex one and that the organization will need to leverage every resource available. With the right solutions in place, the organization can start developing an optimal strategy

In an effort to understand innovative, disruptive, and new resources available, your boss assigns each intern to thoroughly research a couple (2) of the mobile industry's most interesting "movers and shakers" that appear on a "top 50 list" that appears in the October 2013 issue of Website Magazine. The companies on the list represent innovators in mobile marketing, advertising and promotion, as well as analytics, apps, design, and sms/text.

Your boss would like you to do your research and make a creative, interactive, multimedia presentation of your findings using a web-based, web site design tool (Weebly, Wix, WordPress, SquareSpace) that can be accessed online by anyone in the organization. You can also use other Web 2.0 tools to create original content. Some of those tools can be found at the following website:muweb2tools.weebly.com.

So, where to begin and what to include in your report? Part of this assignment is to demonstrate to your boss your ability to creatively take initiative in designing a unique presentation without simply “cutting and pasting” content from the company’s web or social media sites.

So….how about providing an overview of the company and their product(s), and/or, product lines. A little company history wouldn’t hurt if it’s available. Better answer the question, so what exactly does the “tool” I’m researching do as it relates to mobile marketing. How about profiling some of the company’s current customers, and maybe include some testimonials?  If there is an opportunity for a free trial, check it out! Can you provide some kind of product tour in the presentation? What about pricing? Does a look at company’s social media (Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, etc.) produce any interesting information I can incorporate into my presentation?

It would probably be a great idea (and a good way to impress my boss) by incorporating and citing what I’ve have learned from other resources related to digital and mobile marketing (GoMobile book, other assigned readings like Comscore's 2013 Mobile and Digital Future in Focus, and online resources like Mobile Marketer Daily and Mobile Commerce Daily).
